Email Clients and Servers
To send an email, you are using an email client, the email client helps you read, receive and sent emails or download things. The email client is the tool you are using, even if you don't know it, email clients communicate with email servers to get the data where it belongs. Sometimes you give the client data so it goes to the right place with little effort on the part of the user. The email servers take the email and all attached data and pass it around so that it reaches its destination in a timely manner. The email clients are designed to be easy to use, that way a user can use all the features on the client.
How Email is delivered
once an email is sent the message is connected to a Simple Mail Transfer Protocol, aka SMTP, this is a set of rules on how computers communicate with emails. Then the email client will tell the server all the information it needs to send the email. Next the SMTP will will use the domain to find the address and ultimately to send the email. Once that is done the SMTP will pass the message to the incoming mail server. This server is either a POP3 server, this makes you download it, or a IMAP, the email will stay on the server, now it is in the digital hands of the recipient. The email could also be handled by internet servers when using and online email client. This proves there are many possible ways to send and receive and email online.Instant Messaging
This form of communication has been around since the 1990s and is an easy way to communicate over long distances. To begin a user must download the correct software for your IM service. Once you are logged in, the client software sends the server your IP address so it can connect to other users. Then anybody on your contacts list can be connected through the server, this then allows you to communicate. Mot online IM service providers are free of charge and can be found and used easily. The IM servers help connect people via their IP addresses and let the computers do the messaging!
